Microsoft Launches Dynamics 365 Activate To Accelerate AI-Powered CRM And ERP Migrations

Microsoft announced the launch of Dynamics 365 Activate, an AI-powered implementation and migration tool designed to help customers and partners move to Dynamics 365 faster while reducing manual work and migration risk.

Dynamics 365 Activate uses AI to analyze existing business application environments, understand requirements, generate configurations, and migrate data. Microsoft said the technology incorporates knowledge from hundreds of recent Dynamics 365 migrations.

The platform is initially available in public preview for organizations migrating from Salesforce to Dynamics 365, with additional CRM and ERP migration scenarios planned. ERP capabilities are expected later in 2026.

For Salesforce migrations, Dynamics 365 Activate combines CRM environment analysis, migration recommendations, and automated migration execution with built-in guardrails. It can analyze an organization’s Salesforce environment to develop an understanding of its data, business processes, customizations, integrations, and dependencies.

Rather than simply recreating a legacy CRM environment inside Dynamics 365, Microsoft designed Activate to help implementation teams determine which processes and configurations should be preserved, simplified, redesigned, or left behind as companies modernize their technology stacks.

Dynamics 365 Activate profiles data and entities, maps relationships and dependencies, and identifies customizations requiring additional attention. Microsoft said that in early customer engagements, the platform has already processed more than six billion data records.

The company said the technology can carry context established during the discovery process into subsequent stages including solution design, configuration, migration, testing, and deployment, reducing the need for implementation teams to repeatedly rediscover and document the same information.

Microsoft is positioning Dynamics 365 Activate as more than a migration utility. Its longer-term goal is to provide a unified, agentic implementation experience supporting organizations that are starting new Dynamics 365 deployments, migrating from existing CRM or ERP systems, or expanding existing Dynamics 365 environments.

For organizations starting new implementations, Activate is intended to help translate requirements into solutions aligned with new business models and processes. For migrations, AI can analyze the existing environment and provide context about what should move or change. Existing Dynamics 365 customers could also use the platform when expanding into new applications, geographies, legal entities, business units, or business processes.

Microsoft plans to continue expanding the platform across CRM and ERP workloads. Planned capabilities include agentic mapping and test sampling, natural-language migration guidance, and executive assessment summaries.

The broader initiative reflects Microsoft’s push to reduce the time and complexity associated with replacing heavily customized legacy business applications while preparing companies for AI and agent-based business processes.
