  • Microsoft recently announced that it is setting up an M12 venture fund in London. These are the details.

Microsoft recently announced that it is setting up an M12 venture fund in London in order to fuel its investments across Europe. The venture fund in Europe is going to be overseen by M12 partner Matthew Goldstein.

M12 will be investing in European companies across all funding rounds. And M12 will also offer access to an M12 Portfolio Development Manager. The M12 Portfolio Development Manager will be responsible for connecting businesses to Microsoft’s technologies.

Ever since M12 was established in 2016, M12 invested in 87 companies. This includes European companies like Beamery, Comtravo, Hazy, Pickit, TwentyBN, and Unbabel. Microsoft’s M12 also has offices based out of San Francisco, Seattle, Tel Aviv, and Bengaluru.

Along with setting up a new office, M12 also said it is going to be investing in SuperAwesome. SuperAwesome is a UK-based company that helps set up safe spaces for children online.

“We’re extremely pleased to welcome M12 on board as investors. As the company building the kidtech infrastructure that makes the internet safer for children, it was very important to align with investors who share our values,” said Dylan Collins, SuperAwesome Chief Executive. “With Microsoft’s leadership in privacy and of course their acquisition of Minecraft, it was clear we had a common set of perspectives about what the future of the internet looks like.”
