  • The Microsoft Teams project management tool is now hitting 20 million daily active users. This is up from 13 million daily active users as of July.

The Microsoft Teams project management tool has been growing at a rapid pace. As of July, Microsoft Teams was seeing 13 million daily active users. And now it is hitting 20 million daily active users.

The biggest rival of Microsoft Teams is Slack. Slack surpassed 12 million daily active users in October 2019. Even though Slack’s user base is smaller, the company pointed out that it has a “deep engagement” with its users. Slack pointed out that its paid customers are using the service for more than 9 hours per day, including 90 minutes of active usage.

“Teams has more than 20 million daily active users. What’s more, while these users start with simple text-based chat, they quickly move on to richer forms of communication and collaboration. For instance, last month Teams customers participated in more than 27 million voice or video meetings and performed over 220 million open, edit, or download actions on files stored in Teams,” said Microsoft Corporate Vice President Jared Spataro.

Microsoft said that its daily active user account is based on the maximum daily users performing an intentional action over the last 28-day period on the desktop app, the mobile app, and the web app.

The Microsoft Teams app is available as part of an Office 365 subscription. And there are currently more than 200 million Office 365 subscribers.
