Midea Completes Acquisition Of Controlling Stake In Esaote

Midea Group completed its acquisition of a controlling stake in Italian medical imaging company Esaote. Esaote will become part of Midea Healthcare while continuing to operate as an independent global medical equipment company.

The business will remain headquartered in Genoa, Italy, with research and development and manufacturing facilities in Italy and the Netherlands.

Midea plans to support Esaote’s expansion through investments in research and development, operations, and manufacturing.

The combination also gives Esaote access to Midea’s broader technology ecosystem, international distribution resources, and complementary imaging technologies.

Midea’s medical imaging portfolio includes digital radiography, high-field MRI, CT, and digital subtraction angiography.

Esaote’s portfolio includes ultrasound, open and dedicated MRI, and medical IT systems.

Franco Fontana will continue serving as Esaote’s CEO following completion of the transaction.

Esaote generated approximately €267 million in fiscal 2025 revenue, with about 70% coming from international markets.

The company has roughly 1,160 employees and operates in more than 100 countries.

Approximately 20% of its workforce is involved in R&D, while the company invests about 12% of annual revenue into R&D.
