MidOcean Energy Secures More Than $4 Billion In Equity Commitments To Accelerate Global LNG Growth

MidOcean Energy has concluded its 2026 equity capital raise with more than $4 billion of closed and pending equity commitments secured over the past 12 months, giving the liquefied natural gas company additional capital to expand its global LNG portfolio.

The total significantly exceeded MidOcean’s original $2 billion target and includes commitments from new strategic and institutional investors along with significant additional commitments from existing shareholders.

MidOcean Energy was formed and is managed by EIG and is building a diversified global portfolio of LNG assets.

New investors participating in the capital raise include the Private Department of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Idemitsu Kosan, NYK Line through Diamond Gas MidOcean, The Arab Energy Fund, Shizuoka Gas and certain Korean institutional investors.

The investor group includes strategic companies, sovereign-linked institutions and financial investors, giving MidOcean a broader capital base as it evaluates additional LNG investments.

MidOcean plans to use the capital to increase balance-sheet flexibility and pursue a pipeline of growth opportunities spanning both operating, cash-generating LNG assets and development-stage projects.

The company has already assembled an LNG portfolio with interests across Canada, Australia, the United States and Latin America. It also has an LNG shipping and marketing presence in Singapore and corporate headquarters in London.

MidOcean said it will continue evaluating additional opportunities consistent with its investment strategy, with an emphasis on building a diversified portfolio that can generate cash flow while providing long-term growth optionality.

The fundraising comes as MidOcean continues to position LNG as a major component of energy security and global economic growth. The company believes geographic diversification can become particularly important during periods of market disruption because a global portfolio provides multiple potential supply and delivery points.

The additional capital gives MidOcean greater capacity to pursue transactions as LNG projects require substantial funding and long development timelines.

MidOcean is backed by EIG, which specializes in energy and energy-related infrastructure investments. EIG had approximately $27.1 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026.

During its 44-year history, EIG has committed more than $55 billion to 429 projects or companies across 44 countries and six continents.
