MidOcean Partners Adds Three Executives To $9 Billion Credit Platform

MidOcean Partners has appointed three professionals to its Credit team as the alternative asset manager continues to expand its platform, which manages $9 billion in credit assets.

Kit Soo is joining MidOcean as a Principal, while Bob McLaughlin has joined as a Principal and Matthew Lal has joined as a Vice President.

The appointments add experience across private credit investing, trading and collateralized loan obligation operations.

Soo will focus primarily on origination and underwriting within MidOcean’s capital solutions business.

He joins from Macquarie, where he most recently served as a Senior Vice President in the Principal Finance division in New York.

Soo has experience sourcing and executing opportunistic credit, structured capital and sponsor finance investments across multiple industries.

McLaughlin will focus on identifying and executing portfolio investments in a trading capacity.

He joins from CIFC Asset Management, where he most recently served as Vice President in Portfolio Management and Trading and developed experience investing across the capital structure.

Lal will run MidOcean’s internal CLO operations, including management of vendor relationships and support for the platform’s continued expansion.

He joins from Sculptor Capital Management, where he most recently served as Controller with senior responsibility for operations and financial controls across the firm’s U.S. and European CLO platform.

MidOcean has been expanding its private credit presence through its Tactical Credit strategy over the past seven years and has significantly scaled its CLO business since 2022.

All three executives will be based in New York City.
