Bloomberg Media founder and Mike Bloomberg was recently interviewed by “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King about his recent decision to join the 2020 presidential race.

During the interview, King asked Bloomberg about whether it was an “ego stroke” as the reason for running for president. Bloomberg acknowledged that it “takes an ego to think that you could do the job. Bloomberg has a net worth of $55 billion, according to Forbes.

“I have the same rights as anybody else. Does it take an ego? Yeah, I guess it takes an ego to think that you could do the job. I have 12 years of experience in City Hall,” said Bloomberg. “And I think if you go back today and ask most people about those 12 years, they would say that the– not me, but the team that I put together made an enormous difference in New York City. And New York City benefited from it and continues to benefit from it today from what we did then.”

King also asked Bloomberg about the controversy surrounding his support of “Stop, question, and frisk” during his tenure as mayor of New York.

“The mark of an intelligent, competent person is when they make a mistake, they have the guts to stand up and say, ‘I made a mistake. I’m sorry.’”

Back in September, Bloomberg said he was not interested in running since he believes that the votes would end up getting split between him and Joe Biden. But now Bloomberg believes that he has the best chance among all of the candidates to beat Donald Trump in 2020. And Bloomberg said that his decision to enter the race should not be an issue to Biden.

“He doesn’t have the job of president of the United States and neither do I,” Bloomberg commented. “At the moment, the person that has it is Donald Trump. I’m trying to take away the job from Donald Trump.”
