Milbank has appointed Alex Anderson as a partner in its Tax Group in New York, expanding its capabilities in complex corporate transactions, restructurings, financing arrangements, and investment fund formation.
Anderson joins from O’Melveny & Myers, where he most recently served as chair of the firm’s tax practice. His appointment follows Milbank’s recent addition of Stuart Alter as a Tax Group partner.
Anderson advises clients on U.S. federal income tax matters involving complex transactions across a range of industries.
His practice includes both debtor- and creditor-side restructurings, including transactions undertaken inside and outside Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
He also advises on debt and equity offerings, secured and unsecured financings, and securitizations involving different asset classes.
Those assets include leased aircraft and engines, music and film interests, and oil and gas assets.
Anderson’s experience also encompasses strategic mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, post-acquisition integration planning, and alternative investment fund formation.
His practice extends into entertainment, sports, and media transactions, where complex tax structures can influence financing and ownership arrangements.
Throughout his career, Anderson has represented term lenders, corporate debtors, investment firms, and private equity sponsors in major transactions.
His work has included advising clients in significant Chapter 11 proceedings, assisting private equity investors with strategic acquisitions, and providing tax advice on aviation-sector transactions.
At Milbank, Anderson will work with colleagues across several of the firm’s established practices.
These include restructuring, real estate, investment funds, private equity, finance, and corporate transactions.
His appointment increases the firm’s senior-level tax advisory resources as clients navigate complex financing and investment structures.
Scott A. Edelman, Chairman of Milbank, identified Anderson’s experience advising on significant transactions and restructurings as an important addition to the firm.
Eschi Rahimi-Laridjani, Practice Group Leader of Milbank’s Tax Group, said the appointment supports the firm’s expansion across real estate, investment funds, and private equity.
Anderson’s arrival follows the firm’s recruitment of Stuart Alter, reflecting continued investment in its tax practice.
He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School and his Bachelor of Arts from Boston College.
The appointment adds experience in transaction structuring and tax planning across industries where financing and ownership arrangements can involve substantial complexity.
