Mark Goldfinger’s Background

Mark Goldfinger

What is Mark Goldfinger’s background? Goldfinger said:

“My journey to Mindspace is rooted in a lifelong passion for problem-solving and building meaningful connections. Growing up in New York City, I was introduced to the world of advertising, where I quickly developed a love for sales. From the beginning, I understood that successful sales are not about pushing a product—they’re about uncovering a need and demonstrating how you can solve it. This problem-solving mindset became a guiding principle throughout my education and early career.”

“Prior to Mindspace, I joined WeWork during its early stages as one of the first 300 employees. My role focused on launching new markets through sales, community engagement, and marketing. Over those six years, I witnessed and contributed to the company’s rise, navigating its high-growth phase, the challenges that came with moving so fast, and the pandemic’s impact.”

“In 2021, I took the opportunity to explore a new industry, joining a company in the Amazon E-commerce aggregator space. There, I built teams, drove business development, Partnerships and Marketing, as well as helped foster a strong company culture. While it was a new and exciting challenge, I ultimately realized that my heart was still in the world of leading large teams and helping shape how companies work each day.”

“When Mindspace approached me about the General Manager role in North America, the interview was a dynamic exchange about strategy, culture, and the alignment of sales with the community. I was reminded of the unique energy and opportunity within the coworking space and as I learned more about Mindspace’s vision—to scale and position North America as one of their largest markets in the next several years—I knew I wanted to be part of it.”

“Now, six months into this role, I can confidently say that joining Mindspace has been one of the most fulfilling decisions of my career. The company’s approach to community, culture, and flexible office solutions is incredibly thoughtful and distinctive. Leveraging my experience while helping to shape the next phase of growth has been both exciting and rewarding. I’m proud to lead the North American team as we work toward realizing Mindspace’s ambitious vision for the future.”

“As the General Manager of Mindspace in the U.S., I oversee the entire P&L for the region. This encompasses all aspects of the business, including sales, community, marketing, IT, facilities, and operations—essentially anything that impacts our members’ day-to-day experience, whether it’s visible or behind the scenes.”

“My primary focus is ensuring that every team member across these verticals has the tools, resources, and support they need to excel in their roles. By empowering our teams to operate at their best, we’re able to deliver a consistently exceptional experience for every member and guest who steps into one of our buildings. Ultimately, my role is about aligning our operations and strategy to not only meet but exceed the expectations of our community, ensuring that Mindspace continues to set the standard for best-in-class flexible office solutions.”

Expanding Mindspace To Miami

What drove the decision to expand Mindspace to Miami? Goldfinger shared:

“Miami has quickly emerged as a thriving hub for technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation. It’s become a destination for professionals relocating from the Northeast seeking better weather and a more balanced lifestyle. Similarly, we’re seeing significant migration from the West Coast, with individuals leaving Silicon Valley for Miami’s unique combination of climate, connectivity to international markets, and vibrant culture.”

“Given its rapid growth and global appeal, it was clear that Mindspace couldn’t call itself a truly national brand without establishing a presence in Miami. Expanding here allows us to provide our members with the flexibility to work not only in cities like New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., or San Francisco but also in Miami—whether they’re based here or traveling for work or leisure.”

“The opportunity to open two locations in Miami over the past 18 months has been a tremendous milestone for Mindspace in the U.S. and globally. It reflects our commitment to meeting our members’ needs in dynamic, high-growth markets and delivering exceptional experiences wherever they choose to work.”

Differentiation In The Tech Ecosystem

What distinguishes Miami’s tech ecosystem from other cities where Mindspace operates? Goldfinger affirmed:

“While cities like New York and San Francisco are well-established hubs with significant venture capital activity, Miami’s tech ecosystem has rapidly distinguished itself uniquely. The influx of venture capital and private equity firms relocating to or expanding into Miami has created a dynamic environment for tech entrepreneurs. This shift highlights the city’s growing appeal as a critical base for innovation and investment.”

“Miami’s proximity to Latin America further sets it apart. The city has become a gateway for companies from the region entering the U.S. market or looking to expand internationally. This cross-border connectivity fosters a rich exchange of ideas and opportunities, making Miami an ideal launchpad for growth.”

“Additionally, we’re seeing a trend of professionals from family offices, VC, and PE firms in places like New York and the Northeast choosing Miami as the location to establish their first or second offices. This convergence of seasoned investors, innovative entrepreneurs, and a supportive business environment makes Miami’s tech ecosystem truly distinctive, and it’s a major reason why Mindspace has prioritized expanding here.”

Miami Seeing Surge In VC Investment

Miami has seen a surge in venture capital investment. How do you see Mindspace fitting into this narrative? Goldfinger noted:

“Mindspace is uniquely positioned to play a pivotal role in Miami’s surge of venture capital investment. As a home for entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses, and enterprises, we create an environment where innovation thrives.”

“Venture capital and private equity firms are actively seeking promising entrepreneurs and businesses to support. Many of these founders, however, are looking to move beyond working from their homes or isolated spaces. They want to be part of a vibrant community where they can connect with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and tackle shared challenges.”

“At Mindspace, we foster these connections. Our communal workspaces provide opportunities for entrepreneurs to have meaningful conversations—whether over coffee or at the water cooler—with other founders and operators navigating similar journeys. These organic interactions help drive innovation, inspire creative solutions, and build the momentum needed to secure funding, whether it’s a seed round, Series A, or beyond.”

How does Mindspace cater to the needs of Miami’s growing tech and venture capital ecosystem? Goldfinger pointed out:

“By fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment. A perfect example of this is having Shark Tank’s Daymond John—one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs and a visionary leader—as part of the Mindspace community.”

“Daymond ultimately chose to have his Miami headquarters at Mindspace Wynwood because he recognized the value of being surrounded by Miami’s thriving startup ecosystem and other like-minded entrepreneurs. For him and many others, it’s about more than just a workspace; it’s about embracing the energy, exchanging ideas, and identifying opportunities to support the city’s ever-growing tech and venture capital landscape. Mindspace provides the infrastructure and community for innovators, investors, and entrepreneurs to connect, collaborate, and drive the next wave of growth.”

Rise Of Hybrid And Remote Work

The rise of hybrid and remote work has shifted workplace dynamics. How is Mindspace addressing these trends? Goldfinger reflected:

“The rise of hybrid and remote work has undeniably shifted workplace dynamics, and while COVID brought many challenges, one silver lining has been the accelerated recognition of the need for workplace flexibility. We’re no longer in an era where the majority of employees are expected to be in the office five days a week, and that’s okay. Companies have realized that employees value flexibility and seek environments that inspire them to come into the office rather than mandate it.”

“Even as some organizations encourage more in-office days, they no longer need massive real estate footprints in every city. Instead, they’re focusing on creating spaces where employees feel a sense of connection, community, and purpose. This is where Mindspace excels. We provide environments that foster engagement through thoughtfully curated experiences—what we call ‘Mindspace moments.’ These include Lunch & Learns on emerging topics like AI, panel discussions, and pitch night events with figures like Daymond John and leading VC investors in the Miami ecosystem.”

Growth In Miami’s Tech Scene

What role do you see Mindspace playing in the continued growth of Miami’s tech scene? Goldfinger replied:

“Mindspace aims to play a pivotal role in the continued growth of Miami’s tech scene by becoming a go-to solution for entrepreneurs, founders, enterprise companies, and mid-market businesses. Our goal is to ensure that when these companies think about where and how they want to work, Mindspace is top of mind—whether they’re setting up shop in New York, Miami, or any of our other locations.”

“As Miami continues to attract businesses from across industries, particularly in tech and innovation, it’s critical for Mindspace to remain focused on providing the opportunities, flexibility, and resources that these companies need to thrive.”

Significant Milestones

What have been some of Mindspace’s most significant milestones? Goldfinger cited:

“Mindspace is playing a significant role in the growth of Miami’s tech scene, most notably with the opening of two Miami locations within the past 15 months. This expansion demonstrates our strong commitment to investing in the U.S. market and supporting the evolving needs of the tech ecosystem.”

“Our growth trajectory highlights this commitment. Since launching our first U.S. location in San Francisco in 2018, we’ve expanded to Philadelphia, Washington, D.C, NY and now Miami, doubling our U.S. footprint in the last 18 months alone. We’ve grown from three to six locations, and at full capacity we’d host close to 3,000 members in the U.S., in addition to the 45 locations we operate globally.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates Mindspace from its competition in the coworking industry? Goldfinger emphasized:

“Competition is incredibly healthy, and it drives us to continually improve. It pushes us to enhance our offerings and ensures that our community experience team consistently delivers thoughtful, engaging programming that adds value for our members.”

“Mindspace is smaller and more boutique compared to some of the larger competitors, we’re able to be more agile and responsive. This flexibility allows us to quickly adapt to our members’ needs. For example, if a company is interested in a space but we don’t have an immediate fit, we can make modifications by making just a couple of phone calls, rather than going through lengthy approval processes.”

“Our boutique approach also means that we’re deeply connected to every member. When a member walks into our space, they’re not just another face—we know them personally. Our community managers are in tune with who they are, what they’re working on, and what their goals are. At Mindspace, we strive to create a family-like atmosphere where our members feel seen, supported, and part of a vibrant, thriving community.”

Future Goals

What are some of Mindspace’s future goals for its Miami locations and broader operations? Goldfinger concluded:

“First, we aim to continue building and strengthening a vibrant, engaged community in Miami. We want to create an environment where entrepreneurs, innovators, and professionals can connect, collaborate, and thrive.”

“Second, we are committed to ensuring that we have the right spaces available to accommodate the growing demand. As more businesses and individuals look to be part of the Mindspace community, we’ll focus on expanding our capacity and providing flexible, high-quality workspaces that meet the diverse needs of our members. Ultimately, our goal is to be a central hub for Miami’s business ecosystem and a key enabler of its continued growth and success.”
