Mission North announced that it has appointed Danny Maiello as its first Chief Corporate Affairs Officer to lead the next phase of growth for the agency’s corporate advisory practice.
Maiello will report to Mission North co-CEO Bill Bourdon. The new role expands the agency’s senior counsel across corporate reputation, public affairs, executive positioning, stakeholder engagement, issues management, and communications strategy.
Mission North said the appointment comes as companies face a changing reputation environment shaped by AI, media fragmentation, policy shifts, and greater scrutiny from investors, employees, regulators, customers, and the public. The agency said companies building or reinventing themselves with AI are especially facing more complex expectations around trust, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement.
The appointment builds on the evolution of Mission North’s Corporate Advisory offering, which launched five years ago to help corporate leaders navigate major shifts during the pandemic era. The practice has since expanded beyond corporate reputation into a broader suite of services designed to help companies build, protect, and renew market impact at different stages of growth.
Mission North’s corporate advisory services include narrative development around innovation and transformation, positioning for technology and workplace shifts such as AI, executive visibility programs, issues management, trust-building strategies, and public affairs support across local, state, and federal stakeholder audiences.
Maiello brings experience across journalism, corporate affairs, public affairs, executive visibility, brand positioning, and stakeholder strategy. He has advised organizations across technology, financial services, healthcare, energy, consumer, and corporate sectors.
Before joining Mission North, Maiello held senior leadership roles at FleishmanHillard, PwC, Dentsu Creative, and Highwire. Earlier in his career, he spent a decade at CNN, where he worked across domestic and international news and later led CNN en Español’s Washington bureau.
Mission North said Maiello’s appointment reflects the growing need for integrated corporate affairs guidance as businesses navigate a more volatile geopolitical, regulatory, and reputational environment. The agency said clients increasingly need support that connects communications, policy, leadership visibility, stakeholder engagement, and business strategy.
Mission North has worked with brands including Axon, Canva, Google, Snowflake, Toast, and Zoom. The agency is headquartered in New York and San Francisco, with hubs in Los Angeles, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Portland, Oregon.
KEY QUOTES:
“Trust is the top currency for value creation. The forces shaping reputation are expanding and increasingly interconnected. Danny has built his career at the intersection of media, policy and stakeholder dynamics, where our clients need the most help.”
Bill Bourdon, Co-CEO of Mission North
“Organizations today are judged not only by what they say, but by how they make decisions, engage stakeholders and respond to change. The companies that build lasting trust are the ones that connect those efforts into a clear, consistent strategy. This guides how we partner with our clients at Mission North. As businesses navigate an increasingly complex and volatile geopolitical landscape, regulated industries, including technology, financial services, healthcare and energy, are facing heightened scrutiny. Advising business leaders across the full spectrum of corporate affairs is both urgent and critical.”
