Mistral AI announced it is acquiring Emmi AI in a strategic deal designed to strengthen Europe’s industrial AI capabilities and create what the company describes as the leading AI stack for industrial engineering.

Founded in Linz, Austria, Emmi AI has developed Physics AI models that accelerate industrial simulation and engineering workflows across industries including energy, automotive, semiconductors, and aerospace. The company has emerged as one of Europe’s notable Engineering AI startups by focusing on real-time simulations and AI-driven engineering systems.

Through the acquisition, Mistral AI plans to combine its AI platform with Emmi AI’s expertise in engineering and manufacturing. The company said the transaction will enhance its position as an AI transformation partner for industrial enterprises operating in highly technical industries.

As part of the deal, Emmi AI’s co-founders and more than 30 researchers and engineers will join Mistral AI’s Science and Applied AI teams in May 2026. Mistral AI also said it will expand its investment footprint across Austria, Germany, and Lithuania, where Emmi AI’s team is currently based.

The acquisition will also establish Linz as an official Mistral AI office alongside existing locations including Paris, London, Amsterdam, Munich, San Francisco, and Singapore.

Mistral AI said the combination of technologies will support the development of advanced industrial applications such as digital twins, real-time simulations, and AI-powered R&D systems for manufacturers and engineering organizations.
