MMI raised $125 million in Series D financing to accelerate commercial growth of its Symani Surgical System and expand access to robotic microsurgery. Existing investor BioStar Capital led the round. New investors S3 Ventures, Angelini Ventures, and an undisclosed strategic corporate investor participated alongside MMI’s existing investors.
MMI has approximately 50 Symani systems installed worldwide, with the platform used in about 3,500 complex microsurgical procedures.
The company plans to use the new capital to expand commercially in the U.S. and other key global markets.
Funding will also support clinical trials and outcomes research designed to broaden applications for the Symani platform.
This includes the REMIND study, which is evaluating potential applications connected to Alzheimer’s disease.
MMI developed Symani to extend surgeons’ capabilities at the microsurgical level.
The company is working with hospitals to establish robotic microsurgery programs supporting procedures such as cancer and trauma-related reconstructive surgery, lymphatic repair, and nerve repair.
MMI also plans to continue advancing the platform through areas including energy instruments and digital surgery capabilities.
