Modern Relay announced it has emerged from stealth with $3 million in funding to build a new platform designed to structure and govern organizational knowledge in the age of AI agents. The round was backed by Point Nine, Emerge VC, Amino Collective, Common Magic, and Masia, alongside a group of angel investors including Charlie Songhurst, Michael Boehler, and Thomas Clozel.
Modern Relay is focused on addressing a growing challenge for enterprises as artificial intelligence becomes embedded across workflows: how to manage and coordinate knowledge shared between humans and AI systems. The company argues that most organizations operate with fragmented and implicit “world models,” where critical knowledge is dispersed across tools, documents, and individual employees, limiting its ability to scale and compound over time.
Its platform introduces a “context graph,” designed to unify and structure organizational knowledge into a single, governed system that companies control. By making this knowledge explicit and accessible, Modern Relay aims to enable both human teams and AI agents to operate with shared context, improving coordination, decision-making, and long-term knowledge retention.
The company positions its approach as a foundational layer for the next phase of enterprise AI adoption, where organizations will increasingly rely on large numbers of autonomous agents working alongside employees. In this environment, ensuring consistency, governance, and alignment across actions becomes critical.
Modern Relay’s platform is built to address these needs by providing infrastructure that allows knowledge to be continuously updated, interconnected, and leveraged across systems, rather than remaining siloed or decaying over time.
The funding will support further product development and early adoption as the company works with organizations seeking to operationalize AI-driven workflows while maintaining control over their internal knowledge systems.
KEY QUOTES:
“Today we’re coming out of stealth at Modern Relay with $3M from Point Nine, Emerge VC, Amino Collective, and Common Magic, Masia alongside exceptional angels including Charlie Songhurst, Michael Boehler, and Thomas Clozel.”
“Every organization has a world model. Most of it is implicit: scattered across tools, buried in documents, locked in people’s heads. Unstructured knowledge doesn’t compound, it decays. It walks out the door with whoever held it.”
“Agents are entering every organization today. Soon, most will have more agents than humans at work. When both are in the loop, reading and writing organizational knowledge, how do you coordinate actions and govern changes? Our answer is Modern Relay.”
