Modiqo, an AI infrastructure company, announced a $3 million pre-seed funding round to help enterprises turn AI experiments into dependable production systems. The round was co-led by Heavybit and Seligman Ventures, with participation from Irregular Expressions and angel investors.
The funding will support the launch of Rote, Modiqo’s local execution layer designed to make AI agent workflows reliable in production environments. According to the company, enterprises are increasingly struggling with maintaining AI workflows as models, APIs, and systems change over time, creating operational instability and rising costs.
Modiqo says Rote observes successful AI agent executions and converts them into repeatable workflows that organizations can reuse consistently. The platform is designed to help companies standardize AI workflow execution, integrate with existing tools without extensive engineering work, reduce token costs through workflow reuse, and improve observability into execution activity and spending.
The company believes many AI systems currently operate as fragile experiments rather than dependable infrastructure. By capturing and codifying successful executions, Modiqo aims to help enterprises reduce repetitive rebuilding efforts and improve operational reliability.
The announcement also reflects a broader industry trend toward solving reliability and scalability challenges for enterprise AI deployments. Investors emphasized that the infrastructure needed to operationalize AI systems consistently is becoming increasingly important as companies move beyond experimental deployments.
KEY QUOTES:
“AI workflows today are like sandcastles. They look impressive when you build them, then wash away the moment anything changes. Companies are paying their best people to rebuild the same things again and again. Rote captures what worked the first time and locks it in, so teams can move forward instead of starting over.”
Chetan Conikee, Founder and CEO of Modiqo
“The industry is quickly realizing that building capable AI agents is only part of the challenge, operating them reliably at scale is the harder problem. Modiqo is building a critical foundational AI infrastructure layer that enables teams to deploy AI workflows reliably at a fraction of the token cost. I am excited to partner with Chetan again to build a successful company.”
Umesh Padval, Managing Partner at Seligman Ventures
“Today’s AI agents are impressive in the demo and unreliable in production. The deeper problem isn’t agent capability, it’s that every agent run is effectively a one-off chat log rather than an artifact that can be proven and iterated on. Teams pay the same rediscovery tax over and over, and the abstractions emerging around them weren’t built to survive change. Modiqo’s Rote captures what worked the first time and turns it into deterministic code, cutting token usage, reserving inference for the parts that genuinely need it, and reining in the context bloat plaguing today’s agent stacks. Chetan and his team are building the execution layer agents need to graduate from experiment to production infrastructure, and Heavybit is proud to back them from Day 0.”
Joseph Ruscio, General Partner at Heavybit
“Every serious team running agents is hitting the same wall: reliability, cost, and reproducibility. Modiqo is the first team I’ve seen attack all three at the execution layer rather than the prompt layer.”
Jean Sini, Founding Partner at Irregular Expressions
