Molex announced it has completed its acquisition of Smiths Interconnect, significantly expanding its capabilities in high-reliability connectivity solutions across aerospace and defense, medical, industrial, and semiconductor test markets.
The transaction marks the largest acquisition in Molex’s history and strengthens its position in mission-critical connectivity by adding complementary technologies including ruggedized custom connectors, RF components, optical transceivers, and semiconductor test solutions. The deal also enhances Molex’s ability to support growth in AI-driven infrastructure and medtech applications.
With the integration, Molex’s global footprint now spans more than 90 manufacturing plants across 22 countries and over 55,000 employees. The expanded scale is expected to improve localized engineering support across North America, Europe, and Asia, while also strengthening supply chain resilience.
The acquisition builds on Molex’s prior expansion efforts, including its 2024 purchase of AirBorn, further deepening its presence in aerospace and defense. The combined organization aims to deliver more comprehensive, high-performance connectivity solutions by aligning engineering capabilities, manufacturing resources, and customer relationships.
The integration also enhances offerings for semiconductor test and data center applications, positioning Molex to capitalize on increasing demand driven by AI and next-generation computing infrastructure.
