Molex has made a strategic investment in CAEPlus to accelerate the development of active liquid cooling technology designed for increasingly powerful AI and high-performance computing infrastructure. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.
CAEPlus is developing BoundaryCool, a compact active cooling architecture designed to address the thermal demands created by next-generation GPUs and ASICs.
The investment expands Molex’s broader Data Center Thermal Management strategy as rising compute density increases the amount of heat that data center infrastructure must dissipate.
BoundaryCool is designed to provide higher heat-transfer performance and greater reductions in CPU, GPU and TPU chip temperatures compared with passive cold plate technologies.
CAEPlus has also designed the platform to remain compatible with existing data center architectures.
The companies plan to collaborate on continued development of BoundaryCool as demand for liquid cooling increases across AI infrastructure.
Molex sees thermal management becoming increasingly important to enabling continued gains in compute performance as chips become more powerful and data center rack densities increase.
The partnership also combines CAEPlus’ cooling technology with Molex’s engineering and commercialization capabilities.
As part of the agreement, Molex has secured an exclusive license to apply CAEPlus technology within its portfolio of pluggable I/O products.
The investment gives Molex an additional technology platform as it develops thermal management systems for AI data centers and other compute-intensive infrastructure.
