Monetary Metals, a Scottsdale, Arizona-based financial technology company operating a marketplace for precious metals financing, has raised $10.5 million in equity financing, exceeding its original $10 million target. The investment brings the company’s total funding to nearly $25 million and will support the continued development and expansion of its Gold Yield Marketplace. The financing included participation from existing shareholders and new strategic investors.
Founded in 2012 by economist and entrepreneur Keith Weiner, Monetary Metals operates a platform that enables individuals and institutions to earn income on their precious metals holdings.
Through its Gold Yield Marketplace, investors can lease their gold to businesses that use precious metals in their operations. These businesses include jewelers, refiners, mints, miners, and other companies that require gold to finance inventory or support production.
In exchange, gold owners receive yields denominated in gold rather than conventional currency. The model is designed to provide an alternative to traditional gold ownership, where investors typically depend on changes in the market price of the metal to generate returns.
For participating precious metals businesses, the marketplace provides access to gold financing that may offer an alternative to conventional bank loans and other inventory financing arrangements.
The company’s latest financing comes amid growth on both sides of its marketplace. Monetary Metals reported that the amount of gold deployed through its platform has more than doubled year over year, reflecting increased activity among gold owners and businesses seeking precious metals financing.
The company was also recently included in the top 8% of the 2026 Inc. 5000, which recognizes privately held companies based on revenue growth.
Monetary Metals has offered its yield-generating services since 2016, enabling individuals and institutions to earn monthly yields in gold and silver.
Its business model connects owners of precious metals with businesses that need those materials, creating financing arrangements backed by the commercial use of physical metals.
The new capital will support the company’s efforts to expand its marketplace, develop additional capabilities, and serve a growing international customer base.
Monetary Metals did not disclose its valuation or identify the individual investors participating in the latest round.
