Monroe Capital has appointed Simon Wein as a Director on its Direct Originations team, expanding the private credit firm’s sourcing and origination capabilities across the East Coast.

Based in Monroe Capital’s New York office, Wein will be responsible for originating new investment opportunities throughout the region. His role will focus on identifying financing opportunities with private equity sponsors and middle-market businesses while supporting the continued growth of Monroe Capital’s direct lending platform.

Wein brings more than 10 years of experience in direct lending and structured finance, along with a background advising companies and financial sponsors on complex capital structure situations.

Before joining Monroe Capital, Wein served as a Director in the Capital Structure Advisory Investment Banking group at Raymond James. In that role, he advised clients on financing transactions, restructurings and mergers and acquisitions, giving him experience across a range of capital structure and strategic situations.

His background includes evaluating financing alternatives, working through complex transaction structures and advising companies as they navigated capital needs and corporate transactions. That experience is expected to complement Monroe Capital’s existing origination capabilities as the firm continues to expand its relationships with sponsors and borrowers.

At Monroe Capital, Wein will work as part of the firm’s broader Direct Originations team, which focuses on sourcing investment opportunities directly from private equity sponsors, companies and other market participants.

The appointment also strengthens Monroe Capital’s presence in New York and supports its efforts to expand origination coverage across the East Coast. The firm continues to build out its direct lending capabilities as demand for private credit remains an important source of financing for middle-market companies.

Monroe Capital’s direct origination strategy centers on identifying opportunities where the firm can provide financing solutions tailored to the needs of borrowers and financial sponsors. Wein’s combination of direct lending, structured finance and transaction advisory experience adds additional expertise to that effort.

His appointment reflects Monroe Capital’s continued investment in professionals with experience across credit markets, capital structures and M&A, while broadening the firm’s ability to source and evaluate transactions across the region.

KEY QUOTE:

“His experience in direct lending and structured finance along with his deep advisory background and track record of executing complex financing, restructuring, and M&A transactions make him an excellent addition to our team. Simon’s expertise and market insight will further enhance our ability to serve sponsors and middle-market companies across the East Coast while continuing to grow our premier direct originations platform.”
