Moonvalley, an AI research company focused on AI video models trained exclusively on licensed content, has raised an additional $84 million in funding. The round was led by existing investor General Catalyst, with strategic investments from Creative Artists Agency (CAA), CoreWeave, and Comcast Ventures. Existing investors Khosla Ventures and YCombinator also participated, bringing Moonvalley’s total funding to $154 million.
This investment highlights a growing industry trend towards AI development that prioritizes intellectual property rights, with major studios and global brands increasingly favoring platforms that use licensed material.
Moonvalley’s flagship model, Marey, recently released to the public, is the world’s first production-grade AI generative videography platform designed for professional filmmakers and visionary brands. The company collaborates with its filmmaking arm, Asteria, to develop tools that deliver cinematic quality, creative control, and commercial-ready outputs for Hollywood studios.
With Marey now publicly accessible via Moonvalley.com, the new capital will enable Moonvalley to scale and meet enterprise demand. Key priorities include expanding its licensed content library, developing API access for developers, building requested features for studio and enterprise partners, and growing its engineering and support teams for enterprise-scale deployments.
