Morgan Lewis announced the continued expansion of its European corporate platform with the addition of private equity partner Gemma Roberts in London. Roberts joins the firm from Goodwin, where she previously served as co-chair of the London office, and will assume the role of European private equity practice lead.
The appointment represents another step in Morgan Lewis’s strategy to strengthen its integrated European M&A and private capital capabilities. The move follows the recent arrival of Philip Cheveley from Covington & Burling, who joined as the firm’s European M&A practice lead. Together, the additions are intended to enhance Morgan Lewis’s cross-border transactional platform serving sponsors, investors, and companies operating across Europe and other key markets.
Roberts advises private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, founders, and management teams on a broad range of transactions, including leveraged buyouts, growth equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions. Her practice spans sectors such as technology, software, financial services, business services, and consumer products.
She is particularly recognized for her experience in complex cross-border transactions and private equity-backed growth strategies. Roberts regularly advises clients on transactions involving multiple jurisdictions and maintains strong relationships throughout the London and broader European private equity markets, including Germany and France.
According to the firm, the addition of Roberts further strengthens Morgan Lewis’s private capital, M&A, finance, tax, regulatory, and investment management capabilities in Europe. The firm continues to invest in London as a key hub for cross-border transactions and strategic investments.
Morgan Lewis’s M&A and private equity practices support clients through 33 offices across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Recent additions to the firm’s European corporate practice have included Philip Cheveley and Luciana Griebel in London, Dana Anagnostou, Sébastien Pontillo, and Alexandre Omaggio in Paris, and Sebastian Dexheimer in Germany.
