Morgan Stanley Investment Management: Stablecoin Reserves Portfolio Launch Expands Institutional Digital Asset Infrastructure

Morgan Stanley Investment Management announced the launch of its Stablecoin Reserves Portfolio, a new money market fund designed to support stablecoin issuers with compliant, yield-generating reserve management.

The portfolio is structured as a government money market fund within the firm’s Institutional Liquidity Funds platform and is tailored to meet the needs of payment stablecoin issuers seeking to hold reserves backing their tokens.

The fund invests in high-quality, short-duration assets including cash, U.S. Treasury securities, and overnight repurchase agreements, with the objective of preserving capital, maintaining daily liquidity, and delivering current income while targeting a stable $1 net asset value.

The launch comes as regulatory frameworks increasingly require stablecoin issuers to maintain fully backed, highly liquid reserves. The offering is designed to align with these requirements, providing a regulated vehicle for reserve management.

The Stablecoin Reserves Portfolio enables issuers to place reserve assets into a traditional financial structure while earning yield, marking a step toward deeper integration between digital assets and institutional finance.

The initiative reflects growing institutional demand for infrastructure supporting the stablecoin ecosystem, as adoption expands across payments and financial services.

The product builds on Morgan Stanley Investment Management’s broader push into digital assets, positioning the firm to play a larger role in the evolving financial system.
