Leading global law firm Morrison Foerster announced the arrival of Dan Harris as a partner in the firm’s Emerging Companies + Venture Capital (ECVC) Group, based in its San Francisco office. Harris brings nearly two decades of experience working closely with a wide range of innovative food systems and consumer technology, consumer products, software, hardware, and marketplace-based companies throughout their lifecycles.
He advises on general corporate and commercial matters, equity and debt financings, and mergers and acquisitions. Harris’s core practice also involves representing several leading investors in the consumer products and technology sectors.
With Harris’s arrival, the firm has also added seven partners to its national ECVC Group since the start of 2024, including the additions of Chuck Cotter and Finity Jernigan in Denver and Peter Fusco, Jesse Nevarez, Frank Paz, and Jae Zhou in New York.
Harris joins Morrison Foerster from a leading bicoastal boutique law firm with a focus in the consumer products and technology sectors, where he served as head of its Corporate Practice Group and a member of its executive committee. In this role, he grew his previous firm’s corporate practice eightfold during his tenure. Harris centers his practice on representing dynamic, high-growth companies as corporate transactional and general counsel throughout their lifecycles, and venture capital and private equity funds in financing transactions with emerging and high-growth companies.
He focuses on providing his clients with commercially grounded advice geared towards achieving their ultimate business goals and has represented companies and institutional investors in transactions totaling more than $3 billion over the past two years alone.

“A key strategic initiative for the firm is the continued growth of and investment in our emerging companies capabilities and team. Dan’s arrival is a great stride in that initiative, along with being a strong addition to the firm overall. Dan’s significant consumer tech and consumer products experience has great synergies with our already standout consumer venture and growth equity practice, which he will join to lead with Chuck and Finity, further cementing MoFo’s position as the preeminent consumer tech venture practice in the U.S.”
