MOTHER.Tech Raises $15 Million And Launches Degen, A One-Tap AI Creative App

MOTHER.Tech, an AI-native creative studio based in Brooklyn, has launched Degen, a mobile app that allows users to generate images, videos, memes, carousels, and text content in a single tap without prompt engineering, model management, or editing skills. The app is available on iOS and Android via invite code and is backed by Google Ventures, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, Box Group, and Shine Capital. The company has raised a total of $15 million, with the most recent investment coming in 2026.

The central innovation within Degen is a format called a “gen” — a modular creative system built from specific aesthetics, subcultures, and content formats. Each generator is designed by an individual creator, such as a photographer, artist, or designer, who translates their visual style into a tool others can use, powered by a multi-model AI render pipeline. New generators drop daily, tracking what is emerging or culturally relevant across the internet. The result is AI-generated content described as culturally fluent rather than generically artificial.

Degen introduces a creator economy model in which artists earn revenue each time another user creates content using their generator, providing an ongoing usage-based income stream that rewards creative quality rather than follower count or algorithmic performance. The platform is private by default, organized around channels rather than algorithmic feeds, and is explicitly designed to encourage creative experimentation rather than content production optimized for social media performance. Each token used for content generation can be purchased or earned through referrals.

MOTHER.Tech was founded in 2023 by Kelsey Falter, Raissa Chagas, and Miles Seiver, all of whom previously worked inside major technology platforms. The company operates across the U.S., Brazil, and Europe. Broader access to Degen will open in the coming weeks following the initial invite-only launch.

KEY QUOTE:

“We spent years inside the biggest platforms and saw how the systems actually work — quietly taking more from users than they give back. Degen is the app we wanted to exist. Growing up, the internet felt like a creative playground with less pressure. This app opens that experience again. Less production, more play.”
