Motion Society has appointed Chanel Simmons as Managing Director, U.S., putting the former Spotify and Meta content partnerships executive in charge of growth in a market that already represents approximately 70% of the company’s creator business.
Motion Society currently works with more than 650 creators and intellectual property owners, generates more than 8 billion monthly views, and distributes more than 30,000 videos per month across more than 20 digital platforms and streaming TV services.
Creators and IP owners that have worked with the company include Jesser, Stephen Sharer, and Lizzy Capri.
The company helps creators distribute existing content across additional digital platforms and connected television services while handling many of the technical, editorial, operational, and platform-specific requirements involved.
More than 200 creators and IP owners currently use Motion Society to distribute existing programming to streaming TV services.
Motion Society handles activities including adaptation, delivery, formatting, metadata, editorial requirements, and other elements required by individual platforms.
Simmons brings more than a decade of experience across creator businesses and major consumer technology platforms.
At Fullscreen, she led YouTube syndication and managed a strategy team responsible for channel performance across a network of approximately 70,000 creators.
She later led content strategy and distribution for FaZe Clan’s owned channels and its 50-creator roster.
Simmons subsequently worked at Meta and Spotify, where she most recently led Digital Culture content partnerships.
At Spotify, her responsibilities included helping onboard creators and creator service providers that wanted to expand existing YouTube video programming onto Spotify.
Her prior experience with Motion Society as a platform partner was one factor behind her decision to join the company.
Motion Society combines platform specialists, creative teams, and proprietary technology to determine where creator content has the strongest potential to perform and then manage distribution across those destinations.
The operational challenge can be substantial.
Motion Society said streaming television upload briefs alone can run as long as 50 pages, covering content requirements, metadata, merchandising, and delivery specifications.
The company’s proprietary operating system is designed to automate and consolidate many of those functions.
Motion Society estimates the platform saves its more than 50 employees over half of the time they otherwise would spend on workflow and operational activities, freeing employees to focus more heavily on strategy and creative decisions.
Where direct platform integrations are available, the company can distribute content without requiring employees to manually operate inside each platform.
Performance information then flows back into Motion Society’s operating system.
That gives the company aggregated insight into how hundreds of thousands of videos have performed rather than limiting decision-making to the data generated by an individual creator or channel.
Motion Society was founded in 2022 by Martin Belotti, Thomas Subra, Jean-Loup Fraudin, and Lucas Falga.
Belotti is also the creator behind LADB Restoration and said the idea originated from challenges he experienced after building his own channel to more than one million subscribers.
Subra, Fraudin, and Falga left careers in finance and engineering to build Motion Society alongside Belotti, with the company later raising seed financing to develop the proprietary technology supporting its distribution model.
Motion Society is now beginning to expand from serving creators and rights owners into technology and services designed for the platforms themselves.
The company said platforms have started approaching it for solutions to help scale their side of creator distribution, and Motion Society expects to introduce its first platform-facing products later in 2026.
Simmons will lead U.S. growth as the company pursues that next stage across creators, IP owners, streaming television, and platform partners.
KEY QUOTES:
“During my time at Spotify, Motion Society consistently stood out. The team understood the needs of both creators and platforms and came to us with a deeply informed point of view on how creator content could succeed on Spotify. What impressed me most was the combination of strong creatives, platform expertise and the technology they built that allows their team to focus more time on strategy and the content itself.”
Chanel Simmons, Managing Director, U.S. At Motion Society
“Motion Society was inspired by a problem I ran into while growing my own channel. Even as I reached more than one million subscribers, I was still mostly operating it on my own. I could see more value in the content I had already made, but expanding it across platforms required the time and expertise I didn’t have. I wasn’t willing to give up quality and control of the content just to grow. So we set out to build the partner I had been looking for.”
Martin Belotti, Co-Founder Of Motion Society And Creator Of LADB Restoration
“We built Motion Society to be an invisible engine for creators and IP owners. Their content remains in the spotlight while we take on the complexity required to help it travel further. In our next chapter, we will apply that same approach to serving platforms, helping both sides of the business work together at greater scale while preserving quality and control. Chanel’s expertise and knowledge are an invaluable addition to our team as we continue to build on that opportunity, and we’re thrilled to have her lead our U.S. business.”
Thomas Subra, Co-Founder And CEO Of Motion Society
