Motivity announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Calmanac, bringing together two ABA-native technology teams under a single platform focused on clinical integrity and operational efficiency for applied behavior analysis providers.
The acquisition formalizes a partnership that began with a technical integration in 2023, connecting Motivity’s clinical data collection platform with Calmanac’s practice management capabilities, including scheduling, billing, and authorizations. In 2025, Motivity expanded further into practice management using Calmanac’s enterprise-grade infrastructure as the foundation.
According to the companies, the transaction reflects growing demand within the ABA industry for a unified platform that combines clinical workflows and operational management into a single system.
Motivity said its platform was built on $11 million in NIH research funding and developed in collaboration with clinicians to support real-time data collection, individualized treatment plans, and flexible program design. Calmanac, meanwhile, was designed specifically to address the operational complexity faced by large ABA providers, including credential-based scheduling, payer-compliant billing systems, and cross-department workflow management.
The combined company said the acquisition is intended to eliminate the need for ABA practices to operate separate clinical and operational systems while improving workflows and support across organizations.
Motivity stated that existing Motivity Practice Management customers will continue using the same workflows and platform they currently rely on, now supported by the combined teams. Calmanac customers will gain access to Motivity’s broader clinical tools and user community while continuing to work with the same Calmanac team members.
Motivity said the acquisition advances its mission of helping ABA organizations achieve healthier practices, happier teams, and better outcomes for individuals receiving care.
KEY QUOTES:
“Motivity has spent more than a decade earning the trust of ABA clinicians. That trust was built on one commitment: that we would never compromise clinical integrity for the sake of convenience. This acquisition is what it looks like to extend that same commitment to practice management. ABA providers deserve software that’s been built with the same rigor as the science behind their work, and not a generic platform that was adapted to fit. With Calmanac now part of Motivity, we’re delivering on that promise end to end. The families we ultimately serve deserve nothing less.”
Smith Anderson, CEO, Motivity
“When we built Calmanac, we built it for the ABA providers who were being underserved by platforms designed for other industries. Every feature was built by people who understood what’s actually at stake in this work. Finding a partner who shares that same clinical-first philosophy wasn’t guaranteed. Finding that partner in Motivity, and watching our teams align so deeply over the past year, made this the right decision. Our team is excited to grow within a mission that has always felt like our own.”
