Motorola Solutions announced a $100 million investment plan to expand and diversify the manufacturing and supply chain operations of Silvus Technologies, a company specializing in advanced tactical networking and electromagnetic spectrum operations solutions.
The investment is centered around a new 165,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. The site will function as a high-volume production hub for Silvus Technologies and is expected to leverage Utah’s growing technology ecosystem and skilled workforce.
The expansion is expected to create 200 new jobs and increase production capacity for Silvus’ StreamCaster MANET radios, which are used in defense, law enforcement, and public safety applications. Motorola Solutions said the investment will also support continued innovation and maintain the quality standards required for mission-critical communications technology.
Motorola Solutions noted that the investment comes in addition to the company’s ongoing expansion activities in Los Angeles. The company said the initiative is designed to help Silvus Technologies meet growing demand for resilient, high-bandwidth communications systems and electromagnetic spectrum operations capabilities.
The project is supported by the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development and the Utah Inland Port Authority. Motorola Solutions said the new flagship manufacturing facility reflects Utah’s increasing prominence as a destination for aerospace, defense, and technology companies.
Silvus Technologies, headquartered in Los Angeles, develops tactical networking technologies including its StreamCaster family of MANET radios and proprietary MN-MIMO waveform technology. The company focuses on providing high-throughput connectivity, spectrum awareness, and electronic warfare resiliency for defense and public safety customers operating in challenging environments.
Motorola Solutions said the Salt Lake City operation will become part of its global workforce of approximately 23,000 employees focused on mission-critical communications and safety technologies.
