Muybridge announced it has closed a $16 million Series A financing round as the Norwegian imaging technology company accelerates the rollout of its software-defined camera platform across sports broadcasting and other real-time visual applications.

The company said the funding reflects progress it has made over the past year, moving from research and development into deployment across major sporting events and leagues. Muybridge’s technology has already been used across European football leagues, the US Open and ATP Tour tennis tournaments, the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Hockey League (NHL), the PGA TOUR, rugby, and Premier Padel.

Muybridge describes its platform as a “completely weightless camera,” replacing traditional physical camera systems with software-defined imaging technology capable of generating dynamic perspectives without moving parts, mounts, cranes, or drones. The company said the approach enables entirely new camera angles and immersive production experiences for live broadcasts.

Beyond sports, Muybridge sees broader applications for its technology in areas including physical AI, security infrastructure, live entertainment, and machine understanding of real-world environments in real time.

The Series A funding will be used to scale the company’s team, expand its commercial organization, and continue developing its imaging technology platform to support growing global demand.

The financing round included support from Investinor, Fairpoint Capital, Idékapital, and RunwayFBU.

According to additional announcements surrounding the raise, Muybridge plans to expand internationally across Europe and the United States as it scales deployments of its virtual camera technology for broadcasters and live event production companies.
