Namib Minerals announced a series of board and executive leadership appointments designed to strengthen corporate governance, enhance financial leadership, and support the company’s next phase of growth, including the planned restart of the Redwing Mine and execution of its development financing strategy.

As part of the changes, CEO Tulani Sikwila has also been appointed Chairman of the Board, while Wendy Luhabe joins the Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Lead Independent Director. In addition, Sphe Mchunu has been named Chief Financial Officer.

The company said combining the Chairman and CEO roles will provide unified leadership during a critical execution period as Namib Minerals advances the Redwing Mine restart, pursues development financing, and continues building its governance framework as a Nasdaq-listed company. The Board noted that it will continue reviewing the leadership structure as the company evolves.

Luhabe’s appointment is intended to strengthen independent oversight. As Lead Independent Director, she will chair executive sessions of the independent directors, serve as the primary liaison between the independent directors and the Chairman, and help shape board agendas and information flow.

Luhabe brings more than 30 years of board leadership experience across mining, finance, and publicly listed companies. She previously chaired the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa, overseeing investments in mining, resources, and industrial projects throughout Africa. She recently concluded her tenure as Independent Non-Executive Chair of Pepkor Holdings and currently serves as a non-executive director at Richemont, where she sits on the Governance & Sustainability and Nominations Committees. Her previous leadership positions also include Chairman of Vodacom Group and director of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

The company also appointed Sphe Mchunu as Chief Financial Officer. Mchunu brings experience in finance, capital markets, and corporate strategy, and will play a key role in supporting Namib Minerals’ financing initiatives and operational growth plans as it advances its mining projects.
