Navan To Acquire Smartrips To Expand In Latin America

By Amit Chowdhry ● Jun 22, 2026

Navan announced that it has signed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire Smartrips, a Brazilian travel management company.

The transaction will mark Navan’s first acquisition as a public company and expand the company’s footprint in Latin America.

Smartrips is a travel technology platform in Brazil focused on corporate travel procurement and management. The company was founded in 2017 and supports business travelers and finance and operations teams with tools for booking, expense visibility, and travel management.

Navan said the acquisition will help customers with operations in Brazil manage local travel directly within the core Navan platform, rather than directing teams to partner sites or off-platform booking systems.

The company said the integration will help consolidate historically fragmented travel spend into a single interface, providing finance teams with unified workflows and real-time spend visibility.

Brazil is the largest corporate travel market in Latin America and accounts for an estimated 40% of the region’s travel spend. Navan said the acquisition positions the company to capture a greater share of its $185 billion market opportunity.

The acquisition follows Navan’s broader international expansion strategy of acquiring local operators with established supplier relationships and regional expertise. Over the past five years, the company has pursued similar efforts through Comtravo in Germany, Tripeur in India, and Reed & Mackay in the United Kingdom.

Navan expects to integrate Smartrips’ capabilities into its platform while maintaining local expertise for Brazilian travelers and customers.

The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and Navan said the transaction has no material impact on the guidance it shared on June 10, 2026.

KEY QUOTES:

“Global enterprises want a single, integrated travel platform, no matter where they’re booking, and that’s what the addition of Smartrips is all about. Together, we will be able to better serve new and existing customers, and we know that we’re such a great fit because we already partner together in Brazil, a critical market for any company with a global travel program. The combination of Navan’s world-class technology with Smartrips’ deep supplier relationships, local expertise, and IATA credentials will enable us to offer a level of service that legacy TMCs simply cannot match.”

Michael Sindicich, President of Navan

“When we founded Smartrips, we were impressed by the cutting-edge solutions available in the United States and Europe. We’ve been inspired ever since to offer the same world-class service in Brazil. Joining Navan provides our customers with access to the most powerful travel and expense platform in the world, backed by local expertise they can count on. We have long admired what Navan has built, and we’re proud to be joining them and bringing that experience to travelers in Brazil.”
