Background in Product Leadership

Asked about his background, Acharya shared:

I am the Head of Product for Retail Commerce at NCR Voyix, where I lead product strategy and design for retail commerce. In the past, I have held product leadership roles spanning enterprise software, cloud platforms, talent management platforms and API management, helping organizations modernize complex systems while driving innovation at scale.

Throughout my career, I have focused on helping businesses navigate major technology transitions. Today, that means helping retailers move from legacy architectures to modern cloud-to-edge platforms while preparing for the next evolution of commerce driven by AI, automation and intelligent decision-making. I am passionate about building products and platforms that simplify operations, enhance customer experiences and enable retailers to adapt to a rapidly changing market.

Core Products and Features

Asked about the company’s core products and features, Acharya detailed:

NCR Voyix is a platform-powered leader in unified commerce for shopping and dining. We help retailers and restaurants simplify operations, move faster and deliver more consistent customer experiences by bringing together software, payments, services and edge-enabled execution on the Voyix Commerce Platform.

The core idea is simple: customers should be able to modernize without having to rip and replace everything that already works. Our platform approach combines cloud-scale SaaS services, modern microservices and open APIs with resilient execution across cloud and store so retailers and restaurants can adopt innovation at their own pace while keeping mission-critical operations running.

In retail, our portfolio includes Voyix POS, Voyix Self-Checkout, Voyix Back Office, Voyix Supply Chain, Voyix Insights, Voyix Loyalty, payments capabilities and platform services that support integration.

The 2026 product suite was unveiled as an AI-accelerated portfolio of microservices-based applications on the Voyix Commerce Platform, designed to support seamless experiences across channels and formats.

The real differentiation is not any single application by itself. It is the way the portfolio comes together as a commerce platform. Retailers do not want another disconnected tool; they want fewer seams, faster change, stronger resilience and better operational control.

That is why cloud-to-edge matters. Some services belong in the cloud. Some decisions must execute locally in the store. NCR Voyix is designed for that real-world reality—where checkout, ordering, payments and store operations must continue, especially when networks are imperfect.

I also see the platform as the foundation for the next phase of commerce: agentic commerce. As AI agents become more involved in how shoppers discover, decide, build baskets and transact, retailers will need orchestration across clean data, structured APIs, inventory visibility, pricing accuracy, loyalty context and reliable execution. Voyix is positioned to help retailers become both human-friendly and machine-readable—so commerce can be discovered by agents, governed by retailers and executed safely in the real world.

Technology Evolution Since Launch

Asked how the company’s technology has evolved since launching, Acharya described:

NCR Voyix has a long heritage in commerce, dating back more than 140 years, but the most important evolution is happening now. We have moved from a world of large, monolithic applications toward a modern, cloud-to-edge, microservices-based platform. That evolution allows us to preserve decades of retail and restaurant business logic while making the architecture more modular, scalable, resilient and easier to evolve.

The way I think about it is this: NCR Voyix has always had deep commerce logic—the workflows, rules, exceptions, fiscal realities, localization, payments flows, checkout patterns and operational details that make retail work. Historically, that value was embedded in older software architectures. The modernization effort is about bringing that proven business logic forward into a platform that can evolve at software speed. NCR Voyix pairs deep domain expertise and an extensive software library with AI-enabled development to accelerate modernization, expand microservices coverage and shorten time-to-market without forcing customers to reinvent what already works.

That matters because retail is becoming increasingly dynamic. Stores are no longer static environments—they are becoming real-time systems of signals: transactions, inventory, workforce, shrink, loyalty, payments, edge health and customer context.

In this environment, systems must sense and respond in real time, with digitization moving from table stakes to execution quality and speed of change.

The next evolution is moving from insight to orchestration, and eventually to autonomy with guardrails. In simple terms: the first phase was digitizing workflows, the second phase is connecting and coordinating them, and the next phase is enabling systems to recommend, decide and act within retailer-defined guardrails. That is where AI and agentic commerce become very relevant.

Customer Success Stories

Asked to share specific customer success stories, Acharya highlighted:

NCR Voyix works with many of the world’s leading enterprise retail and restaurant brands across global markets. We support enterprise customers globally and operate at significant scale across platform and payment sites, transaction volume and commerce operations, including more than 80,000 platform sites globally.

Retailers are increasingly turning to NCR Voyix when they need to modernize complex, mission-critical environments without creating operational disruption. Recent examples include a new deployment with 7-Eleven Philippines to modernize store technology across more than 4,500 locations, as well as an expanded platform agreement with Pilot to support point-of-sale and fuel retail operations.

The broader story is that customers are not just buying a product; they are buying a modernization path. For a grocer, that may mean modern POS, self-checkout, loyalty and real-time insights. For a convenience and fuel operator, it may mean fuel, payments, loyalty and store execution working together. For department and specialty retail, it may mean clienteling, commerce APIs, customer identity, endless aisle and better associate experiences. Across all of those formats, the common requirement is the same: retailers need a platform that helps them reduce friction, move faster and operate with confidence.

We are also seeing growing demand for AI-driven capabilities that help customers move from dashboards to more actionable insights and decisions.

Competitive Differentiation

Asked what differentiates the company from its competition, Acharya emphasized:

Our differentiation starts with where we sit in the commerce stack. Many technology companies can influence demand, build digital experiences, or process payments. NCR Voyix is different because we operate at the execution layer of commerce—the store, the lane, the fuel site, the back office, the edge, the associate workflow, and the transaction moment.

The second differentiator is domain depth. Retail is full of complexity: fiscalization, localization, fuel workflows, age-restricted items, promotions, tenders, returns, coupons, loyalty, offline requirements, shrink, labor pressure and customer experience expectations that vary by country and format. NCR Voyix has built and supported those workflows for decades and continues to bring them forward into a modern platform.

The third differentiator is cloud-to-edge architecture. Retailers like the scalability of cloud, but stores need local resilience. Checkout and ordering cannot stop because a network is down. Voyix Edge is positioned as an edge-native application engine for retail and restaurant environments that is cloud-managed and locally resilient, helping stores and restaurants keep running even when connectivity is disrupted.

The fourth differentiator is agentic readiness. The market is moving toward AI agents that help shoppers discover, compare, decide and transact. For retailers, that creates both an opportunity and a risk. If commerce moves into agent interfaces, retailers need to make their products, prices, inventory, loyalty benefits, fulfillment options and checkout paths available in a trusted and governed way. NCR Voyix can play a role as an execution and control layer that enables this while preserving the retailer’s brand and customer relationships.

Future Goals

Asked about the company’s future goals, Acharya concluded:

Our future goals are centered on adoption, execution, and the next evolution of the Voyix Commerce Platform. In the near term, the focus is helping customers deploy the modernized portfolio, migrate from legacy environments, and realize value from the platform across stores, regions, and formats.

We are seeing continued momentum in platform adoption, including growth in platform contracts and customer deployments.

Strategically, the focus is on continuing to scale the platform foundation across POS, self-checkout, loyalty, back office, supply chain, insights, payments, data, APIs and edge execution.

Over time, this means continuing to unify capabilities into shared services, structured data and reusable APIs so the portfolio operates as an integrated commerce platform across retail and restaurant environments.

We also see a progression toward more intelligent, AI-driven operations—what can be described as bounded autonomy, where systems can sense, recommend and in some cases act within retailer-defined guardrails.

Longer term, the goal is to help retailers innovate through more intelligent, adaptive and reliable commerce execution, while maintaining the control, accuracy and operational rigor required in real-world environments.
