How did the idea for the company come together? Alias shared:
“The inspiration for Neem came unexpectedly during a routine dental check-up for my one-year-old daughter. Her appointment was abruptly canceled because the office’s server was down. When I rescheduled and returned, I was shocked to see the clinic still struggling with the same issue. The staff was in crisis mode, trying to fix an outdated, Windows 95-like system, which was clearly holding them back.”
“At the time, I was exploring opportunities to build a company and this experience was a wake-up call. Dentistry, despite being part of healthcare, was severely lagging in tech adoption. What has been your favorite memory working for the company so far? Alias reflected:
“One of my favorite moments was when we finalized the high-fidelity designs for Neem’s platform. We had spent months working closely with an advisory group of dentists, meticulously mapping out every practice management workflow—one by one, first as detailed flowcharts, then as low-fidelity wireframes. After weeks of iteration with our designers, we finally received the improved versions.”

This created a bottleneck where bug fixes were ready but had to wait for a full release cycle.”
“To address this, we incorporated Playwright for automated testing, ensuring that every fix and feature was thoroughly tested before the release. Additionally, we prioritized zero-downtime deployment using ECS Fargate, allowing us to push updates seamlessly without disrupting operations. By methodically converting tech debt into feature enhancements and integrating these into our sprints, we managed to accelerate release cycles, enhance platform stability, and provide a smoother experience to customers.”
