Nelnet Business Services has acquired Entab Infotech, expanding its education technology platform into India and one of the world’s largest K-12 education markets.
New Delhi-based Entab provides school administration, management and learning software through its CampusCare platform.
Founded in 2000, the company serves more than 1,000 schools and supports more than 1.5 million students across 28 Indian states.
The acquisition expands opportunities for Nelnet Business Services to bring its school management, tuition and campus technology products into India.
Following closing, the acquired company will operate as Entab, a Nelnet company.
Nelnet plans to preserve Entab’s brand, leadership, employees and existing customer relationships.
Entab co-founders Lawrence Zacharias and Shaji Thomas will remain with the company alongside its approximately 290 employees.
The business will maintain its offices in New Delhi.
Nelnet intends to combine its resources and technology capabilities with Entab’s established position in India’s education market while taking a gradual approach to integration.
The companies see opportunities to accelerate product development and expand the range of technology available to schools, administrators, teachers, students and families.
Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas served as Indian legal adviser to Nelnet, while Baker McKenzie served as international legal counsel.
IndusInd Bank provided transaction banking and foreign exchange advisory services.
Moxie Capital Mumbai advised Entab’s shareholders, PMA Associates provided project consulting and Khaitan & Co. served as legal counsel.
