Net Health Names Ron Books As Executive Chairman And Patrick Rooney As Interim CEO

Net Health has announced a leadership transition: Ron Books is moving from chief executive officer to executive chairman of the board, and Chief Operating Officer Patrick Rooney has been named interim CEO. Donna Morea, who previously served as chair, will remain on the board as a director.

Books is returning to ECI Solutions as CEO but will continue to guide Net Health’s long-term strategic direction from the board level. Net Health said the board has launched a comprehensive search for a permanent CEO, with a focus on candidates experienced in technology innovation, enterprise software, and the scaling of artificial intelligence across specialized clinical platforms.

Books became Net Health’s CEO in October 2023. During his tenure, the company completed a migration to Microsoft Azure, added acquisitions including Alinea and Limber Health, reorganized the company into divisions led by dedicated presidents, and introduced a new mission statement focused on technology for important moments in care.

The transition comes as Net Health continues developing an AI-native specialty platform serving clinicians across the care continuum. The company said its products are used by more than 34,000 healthcare organizations and combine specialty clinical knowledge with technology intended to support care delivery, workflow, and patient outcomes.

Net Health has operated for more than 30 years and is backed by The Carlyle Group, Level Equity, and Silversmith Capital Partners. Management said Rooney’s interim appointment is intended to maintain operational continuity while the board conducts its search and Books remains involved at the strategic level.
