Netflix is rolling out a significant redesign of its mobile app experience, introducing a new vertical video feed called Clips and a streamlined navigation interface to make it faster and more enjoyable for subscribers to find content on their phones. The update represents the first major overhaul of the Netflix mobile experience in years, following the company’s TV interface redesign last year. Netflix says the new design puts what members care about front and center, with a visual, vertical discovery experience built for the way people naturally use their smartphones throughout the day.
Clips functions as a personalized highlight reel, surfacing short videos from series, films, and specials tailored to each user’s tastes. Rather than requiring subscribers to scroll endlessly through rows of titles, the feed is designed to let a clip quickly convince a viewer whether to watch or play a title. The experience is built around three core actions: adding titles directly to a personal list from the feed, sharing clips with friends and followers via text or social media, and exploring collections of content based on mood, genre, or occasion.
Netflix says it plans to expand Clips further in the coming months to include podcasts, live programming, and curated collections based on genres and specific interests. The company is also testing Clips collections, a feature that would allow subscribers to browse themed groupings of short videos in a single session. These additions reflect Netflix’s broader vision of making its mobile experience as entertaining as the content itself, delivering increasingly personalized and immersive experiences for any mood or moment.
The new experience is available starting today in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and South Africa, with a global rollout planned in the months ahead. Netflix has described this as only the beginning of its mobile evolution, with the company committing to continue building toward a truly great entertainment experience on the phone across watching, listening, and playing.
