Nettle raised $4.8 million in an oversubscribed seed financing round to expand its AI-powered workspace for insurance loss control. MTech led the round, with Project A, Sure Valley Ventures, Portfolio Ventures, and Ventures Together participating.
The financing brings Nettle’s total funding to $6.8 million following a $2 million pre-seed round in March 2025.
Nettle develops an AI workspace that brings risk identification, evidence capture, analysis, and reporting into a single platform.
The company said its technology allows insurers to complete risk inspections five times faster.
Nettle already works with insurers including Allianz and Brotherhood Mutual across Europe, the U.S., and Asia.
Initially built for commercial property insurance, the platform has expanded into liability, construction, and workers’ compensation.
Nettle plans to use the funding to expand across the U.S. and Europe and grow its engineering and go-to-market teams.
The company is also extending its technology beyond risk engineers to agents and policyholders, allowing insurers to gather information about properties and risks that may not have been economical to inspect previously.
Nettle’s technology can analyze images, video, audio, documents, and third-party information and generate reports, risk scores, and recommendations.
The company was founded in 2024 by former QuantumBlack colleagues Jack Miller and Katya Kinane.
KEY QUOTES:
“Our AI workspace gives insurers the tools to bring more of the portfolio into view, either through risk engineers, agents, or even policyholders. This round lets us take what we’ve proven across three continents, with extremely positive feedback, and scale it everywhere our customers operate.”
Jack Miller, Co-Founder and CEO of Nettle
“Nettle has built a next-generation platform for risk engineers in their assessment of site risk for large commercial customers. Using generative AI, top global insurers are adopting the Nettle platform, which requires minimal integration effort, to transform physical data collection and analyses for large commercial risks.”
