Neuralink – the brain implant company founded by Elon Musk, Max Hodak, Tim Hanson, Tim Gardner, Venessa Tolosa, Ben Rapoport, Paul Merolla, Dongiin Seo, and Philip Sabes – recently announced that it raised $280 million in Series D funding led by Founders Fund. Founders Fund was established by Peter Thiel – who worked closely with Elon Musk during the early days of PayPal.
“We’re extremely excited about this next chapter at Neuralink,” wrote the company in a post on X (Twitter).
Several months ago, Neuralink achieved a major milestone – receiving approval for their first in-human clinical trial.
It is unknown what the valuation of Neuralink is based on this funding round, but it is believed to be around $5 billion.
Neuralink’s device utilizes electrode-laced wires that connect the brain to a computer.
