New Apple AirTag
Apple has introduced a new AirTag designed to make it easier to keep track of everyday belongings using the Find My app, adding a longer effective finding range and a louder built-in speaker while keeping the same pricing as the prior model. Apple positioned AirTag as an object-tracking accessory built on the Find My network and reiterated that it includes protections to guard against unwanted tracking.

The updated AirTag is powered by Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, which Apple says is the same chip used across its latest iPhone and Apple Watch lineups. With that hardware, Precision Finding now guides users from up to 50 percent farther away than the previous generation by combining haptic, visual, and audio cues. Apple also says a new Bluetooth chip extends the range at which items can be located, helping users reconnect with tagged items at greater distances.

For the first time, Apple is extending Precision Finding to Apple Watch, enabling supported watch models to help locate an AirTag directly from the wrist. Apple said this experience is available on Apple Watch Series 9 or later and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, provided the watch is running watchOS 26.2.1.

Apple said the new AirTag is available to order starting today through apple.com and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability beginning later this week. The product remains priced at $29 in the U.S. for a single AirTag and $99 for a four-pack, and customers can add free personalized engraving during checkout through Apple’s online store and app.

Alongside the tracker, Apple highlighted an Apple-designed AirTag FineWoven Key Ring, available in multiple colors for $35 in the U.S., with accessories sold separately. The new AirTag requires a compatible iPhone running iOS 26 or later, or an iPad running iPadOS 26 or later, plus an Apple ID signed in to iCloud, and certain features require Find My to be enabled in iCloud settings. Apple also noted that Precision Finding may not be available in countries and regions where Ultra Wideband technology is restricted.
