New Mountain Capital opened an office in Abu Dhabi Global Market, expanding its presence in the Gulf and strengthening relationships with institutional investors across the region. The firm established New Mountain Capital Middle East Limited in ADGM after receiving regulatory approval from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority.
The office will be led by Shehreyar Hameed, who recently joined New Mountain as a Managing Director.
Hameed brings decades of alternative investment experience and extensive coverage of Gulf investors.
He most recently worked at Blackstone and previously held roles at J.P. Morgan Asset Management and Goldman Sachs, with each position involving a focus on the region.
Hameed will share responsibility for Gulf investor coverage with Managing Director Patrick O’Dolan, who is based in New Mountain’s London office.
The expansion builds on more than 20 years of institutional relationships developed by New Mountain across the Gulf.
The firm said it currently works with dozens of investment partners throughout the region.
New Mountain plans to use the local presence to deepen existing relationships and develop new partnerships over time.
The firm will continue to focus its investment activity on defensive-growth middle-market companies headquartered in North America.
Founded in 1999, New Mountain manages approximately $60 billion across private equity, strategic equity, credit, and net lease real estate strategies.
