New North Ventures announced that it led a pre-seed funding round for M2 Foundry, a dual-use software company developing technology platforms focused on national security, economic resilience, and complex systems infrastructure. The financing round also included participation from an angel syndicate organized by EnFi co-founder Scott Weller, bringing together investors and operators from defense, intelligence, enterprise software, fintech, and technology sectors. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

M2 Foundry develops software and AI-native systems focused on financial system security, supply chain resilience, decision-support infrastructure, and other high-stakes operational environments spanning both government and enterprise markets.

The company currently participates in DARPA research programs and focuses on technologies operating at the intersection of economics, trade, national security, artificial intelligence, and complex systems modeling.

M2 Foundry was founded by Dr. Catherine Havasi, Mike Widener, and Mike Sanders. Havasi previously led the Digital Intuition group at the MIT Media Lab, while Widener brings more than 25 years of CIA experience, including leadership roles involving emerging technology and national security. Sanders has more than two decades of experience across enterprise technology operations and commercialization.

According to the company, the funding will support research and development expansion, hiring, customer design partnerships, and broader commercialization initiatives aimed at bridging the gap between government-funded innovation and private sector deployment.

New North Ventures focuses on early-stage investments across dual-use defense technologies, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and deep technology sectors supporting national security applications.
