NewEdge Wealth announced that Alex Watts has joined the firm as a Principal in its growing Atlanta office. Watts arrives from Merrill Lynch Private Wealth and brings more than 20 years of experience advising business owners, entrepreneurs, multi-generational families, family offices, and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
In his new role, Watts will help clients navigate complex financial matters, including transactions, credit strategies, recapitalizations, and portfolio structuring. He also serves as a central coordinator among attorneys, CPAs, commercial bankers, and investment bankers to help address the multifaceted needs of wealthy individuals and families.
The addition of Watts reflects NewEdge Wealth’s continued expansion as the firm grows its presence in key markets across the United States. The firm currently has more than 60 ultra-high-net-worth advisors across 16 locations, including Atlanta, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco.
Prior to joining NewEdge Wealth, Watts began his career as an investment analyst at GenSpring Family Office before moving to J.P. Morgan Private Bank. He later spent a decade at Merrill Lynch, advancing from Assistant Vice President to Senior Vice President.
According to the company, NewEdge’s open-architecture platform, which offers access to research, investment opportunities, and credit solutions from multiple financial institutions, was a key factor in Watts’ decision to join the firm.
