Newmark Group has appointed Mike Whitaker as Group Chief Information Officer, expanding its executive technology leadership as the commercial real estate services company increases its focus on data, technology, security, and scalable enterprise infrastructure.
Whitaker will report to Chief Operating Officer Luis Alvarado and work closely with Chief Strategy Officer Kyle Lutnick to advance Newmark’s technology, data, and information strategy.

In his new position, Whitaker will provide strategic oversight of technology, information, and data initiatives throughout Newmark’s businesses.
His role will include aligning the company’s enterprise technology strategy with operational priorities and longer-term growth objectives.
Sridhar Potineni, Newmark’s Chief Information Officer, and the company’s technology leadership team will report to Whitaker.
Whitaker brings substantial financial services and technology experience to the position.
He also serves as Group Chief Information Officer across Cantor Fitzgerald and previously served as its Chief Operating Officer.
Before joining Cantor Fitzgerald in 2024, Whitaker spent 15 years at Citi, where he held several senior technology leadership positions.

Earlier in his career, Whitaker held senior technology positions at Deutsche Bank and Barclays Capital.
His responsibilities included technology supporting Global Fixed Income, Global Equities & Prime Finance, eCommerce, and algorithmic trading.
The appointment adds an executive with experience managing large financial technology organizations as Newmark increasingly integrates technology and data into its commercial real estate advisory and services platform.
Newmark works with large institutional investors, corporations, property owners and occupiers, and lenders.
Technology has become increasingly important across those relationships as institutional real estate customers use data and software to evaluate properties, transactions, financing, workplace requirements, and investment opportunities.
Newmark said Whitaker will help the company develop scalable, secure, and data-driven capabilities across its organization.
The position also gives him oversight across a technology organization already led operationally by Potineni, while Whitaker takes responsibility for the broader strategic direction.
Newmark generated more than $3.6 billion in revenue during the 12 months ended June 30, 2026.

The appointment comes as Newmark continues expanding its commercial real estate platform and investing in infrastructure intended to support future growth.
Whitaker’s background across financial technology, data systems, trading technology, and enterprise operations will now be applied to Newmark’s real estate services organization.
