NewYork GreenCloud (NYGC) announced it has acquired the Buena Vista Biomass Power (BVBP) facility in Ione, California, and plans to redevelop the site into what it describes as its first large-scale carbon-negative “AI Factory” that pairs renewable, behind-the-meter power with liquid-cooled AI compute.
The company said the facility is intended to serve as the initial node in a broader U.S. rollout of similar sites, positioning the BVBP project as a template for delivering high-performance GPU infrastructure with a lower carbon footprint.
As part of the redevelopment, NYGC said it will integrate biomass-to-pyrolysis energy systems with on-site compute. The project is being led jointly by NYGC and BucSha Energy, which NYGC identified as its biomass-to-pyrolysis engineering partner.
NYGC said the conversion will expand the existing 18-megawatt plant into a 41-megawatt power facility designed to provide renewable, baseload energy for an on-site AI factory capable of supporting next-generation GPU clusters.
Impact Capital Partners advised NYGC on capital strategy and financing pathways for the transaction, the companies said. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
NYGC, BucSha Energy, and Impact Capital Partners said they are evaluating additional locations for similar conversions as part of a 2026–2028 rollout, as demand grows for data center power solutions that can combine reliability with measurable emissions reduction.
NYGC describes its model as combining behind-the-meter generation, advanced cooling, and high-density compute to support enterprise AI training and inference, while BucSha said its approach converts sustainably sourced woody biomass into baseload energy, biochar, and carbon removal.
