By Amit Chowdhry • Jan 29, 2026

NexAIoT provides Industry 4.0 smart-manufacturing solutions—combining industrial PCs, IoT automation/edge computing, and enterprise data-integration software with consulting and implementation services to help factories digitize and operate more efficiently. Pulse 2.0 interviewed NexAIoT CTO Dr. Hoe Seng Ooi to learn more.

Dr. Hoe Seng Ooi’s Background

Could you tell me more about your background? Dr. Ooi said:

“I have over 20 years of experience in R&D and engineering leadership across the UK, Qatar, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. My career spans diverse industries including automotive, oil & gas, robotics, autonomous mobility, AIoT and smart manufacturing. I’ve worked in both global companies like SLB, Williams F1 and Dyson as well as startups, where I led cross-functional teams to bring advanced technologies from concept to market. Currently, I serve as CTO at NexAIoT, where I lead the development of robotics, AI and IoT-driven solutions, including our autonomous mobile robot NexMOV.”

“As CTO, my role is to define the technology vision and strategy, lead R&D teams and oversee the development of products that integrate AI, IoT and robotics into real-world applications, ensuring that innovation translates directly into customer value.”

 Favorite Memory

What has been your favorite memory working for the company so far? Dr. Ooi reflected:

“One highlight has been launching NexMOV, our first-generation AMR, at the Taipei Automation exhibition. Seeing it progressed from concept to a live demo within a few months of development was very rewarding. It validated our team’s hard work and gave us momentum to push forward with Gen2, which introduced AI-powered visual intelligence features.”

Core Products

What are the company’s core products and features? Dr. Ooi explained:

“NexAIoT’s core products enable end-to-end AIoT solutions across automation, robotics and smart manufacturing. Our product portfolio includes edge AI computing platforms (powered by NVIDIA and Intel technologies), industrial PCs & IoT gateways, and data platform & enterprise digital solutions that help customers integrate OT and IT, and accelerate their transition to Industry 4.0. We also provide advanced robotic technologies, such as certified functional safety robotic controllers and autonomous mobile robots, designed for seamless integration into the industrial ecosystem.”
Challenges Faced

Have you faced any challenges in your sector of work recently? Dr. Ooi acknowledged:

“A big challenge is balancing cutting-edge development with real-world industrial reliability. Customers expect both intelligence and 24/7 robustness. We addressed this by building strong cross-disciplinary teams, combining AI and robotics experts with seasoned hardware and industrial engineers to ensure our products meet strict safety, durability and usability standards.”

Evolution Of The Company’s Technology

How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Dr. Ooi noted:

“We’ve evolved from being a hardware-centric IoT company into a solution-driven AIoT provider. In the early days, our focus was primarily on industrial PCs and gateways. Today we deliver complete intelligent systems that combine edge computing, AI algorithms, data integration & analytics, industrial AIoT platforms and robotics.”

Significant Milestones

What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Dr. Ooi cited:

“Over the years, we’ve reached significant milestones that highlight how our business has grown and evolved:

  • Industry Leadership in Open-Standard AIoT
    • NexAIoT is recognized as the leading end-to-end solution provider, enabling manufacturers worldwide to accelerate their digital transformation and Industry 4.0 adoption.
  • Pioneer in Functional Safety Robotics
    • Through NexCOBOT, we became the first to globally deliver a certified Intel-based functional safety robotic controller, empowering customers to deploy safer and more reliable robotic applications.
  • Innovation Recognition
    • The launch of NexMOV, our award-winning autonomous mobile robot, demonstrated our ability to bring advanced technologies into real-world applications.
  • Group Transformation
    • The recent rebranding of our parent company, NEXCOM, marked a major milestone symbolizing our evolution from a hardware-focused provider to a solution-driven leader in AI, IoT, and robotics. This rebranding positions us to accelerate global growth and strengthen our identity as a trusted technology partner.”

Customer Success Stories

Can you share any specific customer success stories? Dr. Ooi highlighted:

“A great example is our partnership with a leading producer of battery materials. Our customer needed to move beyond manual carbon estimates to meet their ESG goals, but their existing process lacked real-time, equipment-level data which made it difficult to develop a credible reduction strategy. We deployed our NexDATA platform in their production facility, integrating directly with equipment to capture real-time energy consumption data from every machine. This provided full visibility into their carbon footprint, enabling them to identify reduction opportunities, implement improvements and produce accurate, credible ESG reports.”

Funding/Revenue

Are you able to discuss funding and/or revenue metrics? Dr. Ooi revealed:

“While I can’t disclose the exact revenue figures, I can share that our businesses have seen strong year-over-year growth. Demand for automation, robotics and smart manufacturing solutions has accelerated, especially in the post-pandemic era as companies seek greater resilience and efficiency.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates the company from its competition? Dr. Ooi affirmed:

“What sets us apart is our open-standard approach that combines AI, IoT and robotics into an integrated ecosystem. Unlike companies that focus only on hardware or software, we provide full-stack solutions that span edge AI computing, industrial AIoT platforms, robotics, data integration, analytics, and digital enterprise intelligence. This seamless integration of OT and IT enables customers to adopt automation faster, scale more efficiently, and reduce both system complexity and integration challenges.”

Future Company Goals

What are some of the company’s future goals? Dr. Ooi emphasized:

“Looking ahead, we’re focused on advancing our AIoT platforms and strengthening edge AI in our solutions with a strong emphasis on data integration, analytics, and AI-driven context awareness and decision-making. Our goal is to make automation and robotics more autonomous, efficient, adaptive, intelligent and safe, with sustainability and ESG intelligence built in to accelerate the transition toward green manufacturing.”
