Nexthop AI announced it has closed an oversubscribed $500 million Series B funding round that values the company at $4.2 billion. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with Andreessen Horowitz joining as a major investor and additional participation from Altimeter and existing investors.
The Santa Clara–based company focuses on high-performance networking infrastructure designed for artificial intelligence and cloud data centers. As AI workloads rapidly expand, the company aims to deliver networking technologies that improve efficiency, performance, and scalability for large-scale AI clusters.
Nexthop AI develops both off-the-shelf and customized switching systems built on open-source operating systems such as SONiC and FBOSS. These solutions are designed to help hyperscalers and emerging “NeoCloud” providers manage the increasingly demanding networking requirements of modern AI infrastructure.
Alongside the funding announcement, the company introduced a new portfolio of products designed for scale-out, scale-across, and front-end networking applications in cloud and AI data centers. The systems are intended to deliver improvements in power efficiency, deployment speed, and performance, which are critical factors for companies building large-scale AI infrastructure.
The new capital will support expanded research and development efforts as well as broader infrastructure investments to accelerate the development of its networking platform. Nexthop AI said it plans to continue growing its product portfolio to meet the increasing demand driven by the global expansion of AI infrastructure.
Founded by industry veterans with experience in hyperscale networking, the company is headquartered in Santa Clara and operates additional locations in Seattle, Vancouver, Dublin, and Bengaluru.
KEY QUOTES:
“The rapid growth of AI is forcing a fundamental rethink of data center network architecture — and that creates one of the largest infrastructure market opportunities we’ve seen in a generation, with the potential to build a $100B+ company. That conviction led us to invest in Nexthop AI from Day One. Nexthop is uniquely positioned to become the next great networking vendor by combining hyperscale-grade performance, open software, and a co-development model built in lockstep with the world’s largest AI operators.“
