NextLadder Ventures announced leadership appointments and investment priorities for its more than $1 billion initiative focused on building a new market category called Navigation Technology, or NavTech, designed to help Americans navigate major financial and life decisions using personalized technology tools.
The organization said it plans to deploy $1 billion over the next seven years to support development of AI-native tools that help individuals and families improve economic mobility, access resources, and navigate critical life events.
NextLadder’s initial investment focus areas include financial health, career navigation, and benefits and social services access. The organization is also exploring future investments related to housing, legal aid, justice and re-entry, caregiving, and mental and physical health.
The organization said NavTech tools are intended to provide personalized guidance, resource access, and decision support for Americans facing major economic or life challenges, including job transitions, financial instability, legal issues, and access to social services.
According to NextLadder, the initiative is designed to support approximately 90 million Americans living in households experiencing difficulty covering typical household expenses, while also improving productivity for community workers, social service providers, and nonprofit organizations.
Anthropic was named as NextLadder’s inaugural frontier AI lab partner and will support development of the organization’s AI-native capabilities while providing technical support to portfolio organizations.
The organization also announced two senior leadership hires. Lauren Loktev joined as Managing Director of Investments after previously serving as a partner at Collaborative Fund, while Brigitte Hoyer Gosselink joined as Managing Director of Product following leadership roles at Google focused on AI and social impact initiatives.
NextLadder said it plans to invest not only in direct NavTech products, but also in supporting infrastructure, standards, developers, and ecosystem partners needed to create a sustainable long-term market for navigation technologies.

“Life is getting harder, and too many Americans are stuck facing some of the most complex and consequential moments of their lives without much support. Every day, millions in this country face fork-in-the-road decisions that have major implications on whether they climb up the economic ladder or fall farther behind. AI has understandably intensified many Americans’ anxieties about their jobs and their security in the economy. But these technologies are now also making it possible to deliver highly personalized, affordable tools to meet the needs of tens of millions of Americans in a way that has never been practically achievable or financially viable before. With NavTech tools, built for the reality of families’ everyday experiences, we can empower Americans to overcome setbacks, navigate life’s toughest financial decisions, and build more secure futures.”
