NextSlide Team Joins OpenAI To Help Build ChatGPT

NextSlide, an AI presentation creation startup founded by Ahmed Beshry, is joining OpenAI, with the company’s team now working on ChatGPT.

Beshry announced the move in a note reflecting on NextSlide’s development and its mission to make visual communication more accessible.

NextSlide was launched a little over a year ago around the idea that people should be able to bring ideas to life without needing extensive presentation design skills.

The company developed an AI-powered product capable of transforming prompts, notes, documents and research into polished, editable presentations.

Rather than focusing only on reducing the time required to create slides, NextSlide sought to make it easier for people to communicate ideas visually and clearly.

Beshry said the NextSlide team is now at OpenAI and will continue pursuing that broader mission by helping build ChatGPT and AI products focused on creation and communication.

The announcement did not disclose financial terms or specify the structure of NextSlide’s move to OpenAI.

NextSlide’s technology was built around one of the increasingly prominent applications of generative AI: converting unstructured information into finished work products that users can continue editing and refining.

At OpenAI, the team will apply its experience building AI-powered presentation tools to ChatGPT as it works on products designed to help users create, communicate and turn ideas into finished work.

KEY QUOTE:

“Our goal was never simply to generate slides faster. We wanted to make visual communication more accessible and help more people express their ideas clearly.”

“The NextSlide team is now at OpenAI, helping build ChatGPT. We’re excited to continue pursuing that same mission: building AI products that help people create, communicate, and turn their ideas into meaningful work.”
