NexusOne Names Ken Pickering SVP Of Engineering As ARR Triples And Top-3 U.S. Bank Cuts $100 Million+ In Costs

NexusOne has named Ken Pickering Senior Vice President of Engineering as the enterprise AI infrastructure company’s annual recurring revenue roughly triples over a six-month period and its AI & Data Control Plane moves into production across major organizations.

Pickering will lead NexusOne’s engineering organization as the company scales its platform across financial services, healthcare, insurance and telecommunications. The platform is already running at major customers, including a top-three U.S. bank, while its control plane is being deployed at another major European bank.

Pickering brings more than 20 years of engineering leadership experience. He previously led engineering at Starburst Data, where he worked on technology allowing enterprises to query information across data warehouses, data lakes and on-premises systems without moving the underlying data.

He later served as CTO of Hopper, building machine learning infrastructure supporting airfare prediction for millions of travelers, and as CTO of Scripta Insights, where he led engineering and AI initiatives in a highly regulated healthcare environment.

NexusOne’s AI & Data Control Plane is designed to create a governed layer spanning models, data systems, users and AI agents. The platform routes requests to different forms of compute based on intent and identity, potentially using traditional query engines, existing machine learning pipelines, smaller models or frontier models depending on the task.

Repeated requests can be served from cache, while requests violating policy can be blocked before reaching a model or underlying data. NexusOne also logs decisions across the environment.

The company cited one particularly significant customer deployment. A top-three U.S. bank connected 30 AI applications to NexusOne’s governed layer in less than four weeks and eliminated more than $100 million in license and hardware costs. NexusOne said it can establish a full cross-estate deployment in less than five hours.

Pickering’s mandate includes expanding NexusOne’s engineering organization, strengthening routing and governance capabilities and automating future deployments.

KEY QUOTES:

“The constraint on our growth has quickly become engineering capacity. Ken has scaled engineering organizations through their fastest growth periods, run ML at consumer scale, and shipped AI under healthcare regulation.”
