NFP Acquires Total Benefits Advisors To Expand Northeast Ohio Presence

NFP, an Aon company, has acquired Total Benefits Advisors, a Cleveland-based advisory firm specializing in employee benefits, retirement services, and wealth management. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition expands NFP’s presence in Northeast Ohio and strengthens its ability to provide integrated financial and benefits solutions to businesses, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals in the greater Cleveland market.

Total Benefits Advisors owner and advisor Mark Breen will join NFP as a vice president. He will report to Steve Jans, NFP’s national wealth management practice leader.

Founded in 2009, Total Benefits Advisors provides employee benefit programs and retirement plan services to employers and business owners. The firm also offers wealth management services designed to help individuals and families address their long-term financial goals.

Total Benefits Advisors has built its business around direct client relationships and personalized advice. The firm works with clients to coordinate their employee benefits, retirement, and personal wealth management needs rather than addressing each area separately.

By joining NFP, Total Benefits Advisors will gain access to a larger national platform, additional specialized expertise, and expanded resources while continuing to serve its existing clients in Northeast Ohio.

NFP expects the combination to enhance its ability to deliver customized benefits and wealth management solutions in the region. The company believes Total Benefits Advisors’ local market experience and established client relationships complement NFP’s broader capabilities.

The transaction also reflects NFP’s strategy of expanding through acquisitions of advisory firms that bring specialized expertise and strong positions in their local markets.

NFP provides property and casualty insurance, employee benefits consulting, retirement plan advisory, wealth management, life insurance, and executive benefits services. Its clients include companies, individuals, and organizations across a range of industries.

As part of Aon, NFP also has access to additional global capabilities and resources while maintaining its focus on specialized and locally delivered advisory services.

For Total Benefits Advisors, the acquisition provides an opportunity to broaden the range of services available to its clients without changing the relationship-focused approach that has supported the firm’s growth since its founding.

Breen and the Total Benefits Advisors team will work with NFP to expand the combined organization’s employee benefits, retirement services, and wealth management presence throughout the Cleveland area.
