Nickolas Asset Management Acquires Ranch Road Cargo

By Amit Chowdhry ● May 5, 2026

Nickolas Asset Management, an evergreen, operator-led family office built on permanent capital, has announced the acquisition of Ranch Road Cargo, a versatile cargo storage solutions manufacturer based in Austin, Texas, marking the firm’s third acquisition of the year as it continues to grow its Configure platform. Ranch Road Cargo is known for durable, configurable cargo storage systems designed to organize truck beds, sport utility vehicles, and utility terrain vehicles, engineered for portability without permanent installation, and built for both professional and everyday consumer use.

The acquisition positions the company to expand into the broader mobile storage and vehicle organization market, which NAM estimates at more than $15 billion in North America, spanning truck accessories, vehicle cargo management, and utility vehicle storage systems. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Nickolas Asset Management partners with management teams to strengthen essential businesses by investing in people, improving processes, and building better products, with a shared services platform covering HR, engineering, operations, finance, marketing, technology, and automation. The firm’s focus on execution, resilience, and long-term stewardship reflects a permanent capital ownership philosophy designed to own and build businesses for generations rather than targeting traditional private equity hold periods. Ranch Road Cargo joins a growing portfolio of companies across multiple categories and industries, with the latest acquisition further strengthening the company’s position in outdoor, mobility, and everyday utility products.

Founder Nickolas L. Reinhart described Ranch Road Cargo as having built an amazing product and a strong foundation, characterizing NAM’s role as surrounding that foundation with the operational, engineering, commercial, and technology infrastructure necessary to scale the business. The acquisition reflects NAM’s thesis that differentiated consumer products companies with loyal user bases and strong product-market fit can be meaningfully accelerated with the right operational support and capital without sacrificing the brand authenticity that built their initial following.

The Configure platform’s focus on the outdoor, mobility, and vehicle accessories market positions NAM to benefit from sustained consumer interest in vehicle customization and utility products, a category that has demonstrated resilient demand across economic cycles.
