No Barrier: $2.7 Million Raised To Expand Real-Time Medical Interpretation Platform

No Barrier, a rapidly healthcare AI company focused on eliminating language barriers in clinical settings, has raised an oversubscribed Seed Round of $2.7 million led by A-Squared Ventures, Esplanade Ventures, Rock Health Capital, and Fusion. The new funding will support broader deployment of the company’s real-time, compliant medical interpretation technology across hospitals, clinics, and specialty care environments.

The San Francisco-based startup has developed an AI-powered interpretation platform that seamlessly integrates into clinical workflows, providing instant, high-accuracy medical translation in over 40 languages. Unlike general-purpose translation tools, No Barrier’s system is designed specifically for healthcare environments and supports HIPAA-grade protections, EHR integrations, and zero-wait access for clinicians and patients.

The funding will accelerate expansion across the full continuum of care, from appointment check-in to diagnostics, procedures, and treatment plans. More than 25.7 million Americans have limited English proficiency, a challenge that frequently delays diagnoses, contributes to higher readmission rates, and creates significant risks for patient safety. No Barrier aims to close this gap by replacing slow and costly traditional interpreter models with immediate, private, and clinically validated communication support.

The company reports that its technology has already been deployed across over 100 healthcare sites in 12 states, spanning service lines such as Mental Health, Reproductive Care, and Pediatrics. Facilities using the platform have reduced interpretation costs by as much as 70 percent, while enabling standardized and consistent communication and eliminating wait times that previously interrupted clinical encounters. By reducing reliance on third-party interpreters during sensitive appointments, health systems have also improved privacy and patient comfort.

No Barrier’s founding team includes second-time Voice AI entrepreneurs and experienced healthcare leaders who have spent years addressing language inequities in clinical settings. The company’s mission-driven approach has resonated with clinicians, investors, and health systems seeking scalable, compliant, and cost-efficient language access solutions.

The new funding marks a significant milestone as the company continues to pursue its goal of eliminating communication barriers in American healthcare, providing patients and clinicians with immediate access to accurate interpretation.
